Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient natural healing art that was practiced in China, India and Egypt over 4000 years ago to encourage good health.

Reflexology is based on the principle that there are energy zones that run throughout the body and reflex areas on the feet and hands that mirror all the organs, glands and body systems. By using specific techniques of holds and pressure with the hands in these areas, natural internal healing mechanisms are both initiated and accelerated in the corresponding areas of the body.

The reflexologist using anatomical and physiological knowledge in combination with skillful handwork aims to help restore health and balance to the whole person on all levels, not just to relieve the symptoms of disease.

Reflexology may have many benefits:
  • Induces deep relaxation and reduces stress
  • Increases energy levels
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Improves blood and lymphatic circulation helping to eliminate toxins and impurities
  • Provides an improved sense of well-being

Reflexology may help a wide range of acute and chronic conditions:
  • Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary and Neurological disorders
  • Muscle and Skeletal disorders (back, neck, shoulder, knee and hip problems)
  • Hormonal imbalances, Menstrual disorders, PMS
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Stress related conditions

"I have been a client of Sonia since 2003 and it has always been a pleasure. I enjoy her experience, her holistic knowledge and her professionalism. She has been able to suggest ways to improve my health and identify some problems before any doctor. And while pregnant, I always felt very well looked after. I had my baby after 4 hours of established labour and at home in a pool, and I am sure that Sonia's work had something to do with it. I would recommend her to everybody"

"I started having reflexology sessions after developing a shortness of breath due to stress. During the sessions Sonia offered helpful advice on how to deal with the problems that had led to this, as well as daily breathing exercises I could do at home and dietary advice. After just a few sessions my breathing was completely back to normal. I now treat myself to monthly sessions for relaxation and peace of mind."

"I have been seeing Sonia Campos for reflexology treatments since May 2008. I first went to Sonia when I found out I was pregnant as I had heard that reflexology was good for pregnancy. I found the treatments very relaxing and towards the end of my pregnancy I would always look forward to my sessions with Sonia. It was one of the only times I could feel totally relaxed, as a lot of the time I would feel quite uncomfortable due to my bump getting much bigger. I had problems with my right hip during pregnancy, but found that the reflexology really helped this.
After I had my baby I decided to carry on seeing Sonia as I enjoy the relaxing treatments so much. Another benefit I found was that reflexology really helped with digestion problems I was having.
I would definitely recommend reflexology with Sonia, as I find that she has a great way of making you feel comfortable and relaxed and whenever we finish a session she always knows if I have been having any problems, for example with stress, muscular aches and pains, or any internal issues, and she is always right!"

"I have been seeing Sonia for quite a while now and thought I would ask her if she had ever done reflexology on someone whilst they were having dentistry work done, it was also new to my dentist! But he was more than happy for Sonia to come in. I can’t tell you how much it helped me. I’m not frightened of the dentist but the injection does funny things to me. My mum always has to walk me out after the injection and I have to use my stick, WOW today I walked out by myself (no stick, I very rarely use one) and feeling rather elated, after one hour treatment with the dentist and of course Sonia. I can’t thank her enough."
Rachel, Brighton

Who can benefit from reflexology?

This gentle and safe therapy is suitable for all ages. It can be used from infancy to old age; the experienced and trained reflexologist will know how to adapt the treatment to different ages and circumstances.

What happens during a reflexology session?

The first reflexology session lasts about one hour and fifteen minutes. On this visit I will ask you about your past and present health and lifestyle. I shall then work on your feet and lower legs with different techniques in order to affect changes in the corresponding areas of the body. Through my work I can detect the areas that are imbalanced, and will give emphasis to those to help bring the person to a more balanced state.

As I am a Nutritional Therapist at the end of the session if necessary I can make some nutritional recommendations to help you with your healing processes.

The treatment can also be carried out on hands; the zones running through the feet have corresponding zones in the hands.

A course of treatment may be recommended depending on your state of health and your needs.

The follow up treatment sessions will last one hour.

Reflexology may help to maintain a balanced state of the whole person, with regularly sessions I believe it can be used as a form of preventative medicine.

Reflexology is a wonderful way of relaxing and keeping healthy.
